RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
The Information Society Technology Programme of the European Union’s 5th framework programme for research, technological development and demonstration – under which Hungarian legal entities can participate in projects without restrictions – has already published its 5th call for proposals with the deadline of 15 January 2001 and it is preparing to launch the next call for proposals in mid-January 2001 (see www.cordis.lu/ist).
The European Commission intends to involve the best teams of the Central- and Eastern European countries in projects that have already been selected, negotiated and contracted, and are actually under implementation. The condition of this extension is that the new contributions should be of mutual interest and evaluated in the same manner as the original project proposal. You may find a list of the pre-selected projects with URLs and addresses in the attached file for the following fields
The Information Society Technologies Co-ordination Point in Hungary in co-operation with the Unit E6 of the Directorate general INFSO of the European Commission is organising a project partnering/brokerage event 26-27 January 2001. At this event we will bring together the project co-ordinators with the potential Central and Eastern European organisations that can bring added value to these running projects in the field of microelectronics and opto-electronics (fields E5, E6). For the other fields similar events will be organised in the near future in different places.
The partners present at this meeting will have the opportunity to meet with the co-ordinators and the representatives of the European Commission and discuss the involvement in the projects, the submission of proposals by the co-ordinators, and conditions of obtaining funding for the research activities related to these projects. Also, on the eve of European enlargement this offers an excellent chance to join the forefront of European-level research in your field.
If you feel that your organisation has the expertise and research capacity to make a meaningful contribution to this research you may indicate your interest by submitting the expression of interest form. This expression of interest should be sent before 12 January 2001 to me. You may know other projects could be extended too, if all requirements can be fulfilled.
The expression of interest will be transmitted to the project co-ordinator and the preparation of the special session can begin. You will find the preliminary agenda attached. It will be updated in upon receiving of title of presentations with the registration forms.
